JAMB Commences Special Admission Exercise For NCE, Agricultural Programmes
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes in Polytechnics without sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the Board, eligible applicants with the required O’Level qualifications can now complete their registration through designated Institutional Professional Registration Centres (IPRCs) in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) nationwide.
The Ag. Director, Public Affairs and Protocol/PCA of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known in a statement, explaining that the Federal Government had earlier approved the removal of the UTME requirement for admission into the affected programmes.
Benjamin said the decision was part of efforts to widen access to teacher education and agricultural training while ensuring that admission standards are maintained.
“Consequently, JAMB has developed a robust admission process to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted, thereby maintaining and enhancing the quality and standards of these programmes,” he stated.
He explained that interested candidates are only required to present their O’Level credentials at any approved registration centre to complete the process, stressing that they are not required to participate in the annual UTME.
The JAMB spokesperson urged qualified candidates to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting approved registration centres in Colleges of Education or JAMB offices across the country.
He added that candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME but later decided to apply for NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes can convert their applications at any IPRC or JAMB PRC without paying additional charges.
According to him, the initiative is designed to increase enrolment opportunities in NCE and agricultural programmes while improving the quality and relevance of the educational pathways.
