The CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, has distanced itself from a group operating under the name “CityBoy Likeminds,” declaring that the group is neither affiliated with nor recognised by the movement at any level.
In a statement issued by the General Secretary of the CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Adeyemi Samson Ajasa, the chapter said the clarification became necessary to prevent confusion and misinformation among its members, supporters and the general public.
Ajasa stated that the group was not part of the recognised CityBoy Movement structure at the national, zonal, state, local government, ward or polling-unit levels.
“The leadership of the CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, wishes to unequivocally distance itself from a group operating under the name ‘CityBoy Likeminds.
“We state categorically that the said group is neither affiliated with nor recognised by the CityBoy Movement at the national, zonal, state, local government, ward or polling-unit levels,” he stated.
The group explained that there was only one officially recognised CityBoy Movement, with an established organisational structure extending from the National Executive to the zonal, state, local government, ward and polling-unit levels.
“For the avoidance of doubt, there is only one recognised CityBoy Movement with a well-established organisational structure spanning from the National Executive to the Zonal, State, Local Government, Ward and Polling Unit levels.
“Any group or association operating outside this officially recognised structure should not be mistaken as representing the ideals, leadership or activities of the CityBoy Movement.”
The Ogun chapter cautioned the leaders and promoters of the “CityBoy Likeminds” group to discontinue activities capable of creating confusion, spreading misinformation or distracting members and supporters across the state.
“We therefore caution the leaders and promoters of the so-called CityBoy Likeminds to immediately desist from actions capable of creating unnecessary confusion, misinformation or distraction among our loyal members and supporters across Ogun State,” the statement added.
Ajasa said the CityBoy Movement remained committed to grassroots mobilisation, political enlightenment and strategic engagement across Ogun State in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He noted that the movement was strengthening its structures and intensifying political activities across the state’s 20 local government areas, 236 wards and polling units.
“The CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, remains steadfast in its commitment to grassroots mobilisation, political enlightenment and strategic engagement across the 20 Local Government Areas, 236 Wards and Polling Units of Ogun State in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
The chapter also declared its readiness to mobilise support for the re-election of President Tinubu and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State during the 2027 general elections.
“We are fully focused on consolidating our structures and intensifying activities aimed at ensuring the successful re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in Ogun State in the 2027 general elections,” Ajasa stated.
The movement urged its members, coordinators, stakeholders and the general public to disregard unauthorised groups claiming to represent the CityBoy Movement outside its officially recognised structure.
“We urge all members, coordinators, stakeholders and the general public to disregard any unauthorised group claiming to represent the CityBoy Movement outside the officially recognised structure and to continue working with the legitimate leadership of the movement,” the statement said.
