Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion on a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.
The deal is reportedly worth £65m, with a further £5m in potential add-ons, as United strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Baleba expressed his delight at completing the move, describing Manchester United as the club of his dreams and saying it would be an honour to play at Old Trafford as a United player.
“It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams. Playing at Old Trafford is always special but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour,” Baleba said.
The Cameroon midfielder also praised United manager Michael Carrick, saying he was eager to work with him and benefit from his experience and knowledge of the game.
“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick; his experience and knowledge of the game make him the perfect coach to help me to reach the highest level,” he added.
Baleba said he was excited by the club’s ambitions and determined to contribute to Manchester United’s return to success.
“The ambition of everyone at the club is extremely clear, the future is hugely exciting, and I am determined to play my part in delivering the success that we are capable of together,” he said.
