Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, with negotiations between the two clubs now at an advanced stage.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, an agreement between Al Hilal and Arsenal is close, with the transfer fee understood to be in the region of £50 million to £55 million.

Romano reports that Arsenal are prepared to give the green light for Martinelli to leave, with manager Mikel Arteta having made it clear that the Brazilian is available for a move this month.

The 25-year-old forward has also received a contract proposal from Al Hilal and is currently in discussions with the Saudi club before making a final decision on his future.

Romano said the deal is now underway, with the remaining details centred largely on Martinelli’s decision and the completion of the agreement between all parties.

Martinelli has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in recent weeks, with his future becoming increasingly uncertain following changes to the club’s attacking options.

Earlier, Romano had reported that Martinelli was among Al Hilal’s preferred winger targets, alongside Pedro Neto and another unnamed player. At the time, the Brazilian’s preference was understood to be remaining in Europe.

However, the latest development suggests Al Hilal have made significant progress and are now close to securing his signature.

Should the transfer be completed, Martinelli would bring considerable Premier League experience to Al Hilal, having joined Arsenal from Ituano in 2019 and established himself as an important member of the Gunners’ attack.

For now, negotiations remain ongoing, with Martinelli expected to make the final decision on whether to continue his career in the Saudi Pro League.

The deal is therefore at an advanced stage, but it is not yet officially completed.
