VDM Slams False Claims Linking Him To Religious Violence
By Mercy Joseph, Abuja
Social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Blackman (VDM) has condemned allegations that he incited Christians to attack Muslims following his remarks at Angwa Rukuba in Jos, where Christians were attacked at a Palm Sunday.
He described the claims as false, dangerous, and a deliberate attempt to misrepresent his message.
The outspoken figure said he had come under intense criticism after some individuals twisted his speech to suggest he endorsed religious violence.
Reacting to the accusations, he said; “It’s quite unfortunate that some people are beginning to spin these narratives that I asked Christians to kpai Muslims in Jos after my speech at Angwa Rukuba.”
He maintained that his comments were aimed at addressing insecurity and urging communities to defend themselves lawfully, not to promote religious hostility.
He also stressed that his position has always been against violence, regardless of who is affected, noting that he has consistently spoken out whenever any group is attacked.
According to him, the narrative being pushed by critics ignores his broader advocacy for peace and justice across religious and ethnic lines.
VDM further revealed that he recently visited Borno State, where he witnessed firsthand the impact of violence on Muslim communities.
VDM added that misinformation, especially on sensitive issues like religion, only worsens tensions and distracts from the real challenge of tackling insecurity across the country.
