The campaign office used by President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election in Abuja is undergoing renovation ahead of the 2027 polls
The office, located in the Central Business District of Abuja, served as the campaign headquarters for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima during the 2023 elections.
The building had been largely abandoned after the conclusion of the elections.
However, when our correspondent visited the premises on Friday, renovation work was ongoing.
The fence had been repainted in white and blue colours, while the paint at the entrance had been scraped off to allow for a smoother application of new paint.
Inside the compound, sand had been offloaded while workers carried out general cleaning activities.
The development comes amid increasing political activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier approved and issued a revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.
The commission had initially fixed Saturday, February 20, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, and Saturday, March 6, 2027, for the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections, in line with the Electoral Act, 2022.
However, following the repeal of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the enactment of the Electoral Act, 2026, the commission announced new dates for the polls.
Under the revised timetable, the presidential and National Assembly elections will now be held on Saturday, January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections will take place on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
