The Federal Government has opened applications for its newly launched consumer credit scheme for digital devices, known as the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme.
The initiative, implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, enables Nigerians to acquire laptops, smartphones and tablets through affordable instalment payments instead of paying the full cost upfront.
The programme was unveiled in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, alongside CREDICORP Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Uzoma Nwagba. It will initially focus on locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to encourage local manufacturing.
How to apply
Applicants are required to visit the official C.L.I.C.K.D. application portal and click on the “I’m Interested” button to access the application form.
They will be required to provide their state of residence, employment status, optional monthly income, digital talent programme affiliation, the type of device needed, the purpose of the device and how they heard about the scheme.
Before submitting the application, applicants must confirm that the information provided is accurate, agree to be contacted regarding their application and consent to CREDICORP and its partners using their information to assess eligibility.
Eligibility

The current phase of the programme is a pilot involving 1,000 laptops and is limited to beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.
According to Nwagba, the rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries received devices, while the remaining laptops will be distributed to qualified fellows across other states in phases.
Although the application form also lists participants from programmes such as Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has so far stated publicly that only 3MTT fellows are eligible for the current pilot phase.
The corporation has yet to announce the interest rates, repayment period or down-payment requirements for the C.L.I.C.K.D. loans.
