The Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has said that a woman kidnapped in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, alongside her son, has been rescued in Kwara State.
Igboho, who leads the Iru Ekun Security Network, said the rescue was carried out with support from the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force after a gun battle with the kidnappers in the early hours of Saturday.
According to him, the operation followed days of tracking the suspects through intelligence gathering. He said the abductors had been lured with ransom when the security team launched the operation.
He added that the kidnappers escaped with gunshot wounds, abandoning the victims in the forest, where they were later found after shouting for help.
The rescued victims, identified as Adijat Kubura Aliqlas and her son Abdulmalik, were taken to hospital for medical attention.
Igboho reaffirmed his commitment to supporting security efforts in Oyo State and urged Nigerians to avoid spreading unverified information that could cause panic.
