Critical decisions on the 2026 admission process will be taken on May 11, as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) convenes its annual policy meeting on admissions.
The announcement was made on Sunday by JAMB’s Spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a post on his X handle.
According to him, the high-level meeting will hold in Abuja and will bring together major stakeholders in the tertiary education sector to deliberate on admission guidelines and set the direction for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Benjamin also disclosed that the venue is the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja.
He noted that the meeting would feature key policy pronouncements from the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa, describing the session as pivotal to shaping the upcoming admission cycle.
“The Board’s annual policy meeting on admissions remains a crucial platform where stakeholders determine the minimum acceptable UTME scores, as well as admission guidelines and policies for tertiary institutions,” he said.
He added that the meeting would also reinforce the need for strict compliance with established admission procedures while formally setting the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.
Participants expected at the meeting include Vice-Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, Registrars and admission officers from tertiary institutions across the country.
Representatives of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) will also be in attendance.
In addition, goodwill messages are expected from organisations including NELFUND, NYSC and other key stakeholders in the education sector.
The event will also feature the sixth edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards (NATAP-M), aimed at promoting compliance with admission guidelines and enhancing standards in the nation’s tertiary education system.
